Weymouth’s RNLI says not one shout has been missed in 2020 as it looks back on the year.

Bosses have been thanking crews for their hard working this year, and the risks they’ve taken to keep others safe.

The charity says it’s facing a ‘colossal’ financial loss this year in the wake of cancelled fundraising events.

Chrissie Payne, Weymouth RNLI station, Lifeboat Management Group Chair said:

“Well what a year, one that continues to get stranger and stranger! As you can imagine, daily routine at the Lifeboat Station has been extremely challenging throughout 2020. The commitment and diligence of the frontline crews has meant that not one ‘Shout’ has been missed. An incredible achievement when such necessary operational restrictions have been practiced. Strict guidelines for PPE and sanitisation have had to be adhered to, in order to protect the crews when answering the call for help. I invite you to join me in saluting the entire Team at Weymouth Lifeboat Station for their dedication to duty, whilst risking their own lives to assist others.

"The availability of vaccine will hopefully see us return to ‘normal’ activities in 2021. We look forward to welcoming you, our Community back to our regular Fundraising events. We need your support more than ever in light of the colossal financial loss incurred, due to our inability to operate during 2020.

"On behalf of everyone at Weymouth Lifeboat Station, we wish you a wonderful Christmastime and a healthy New Year, stay safe, and we’ll meet again as soon as possible."
