Algae on Weymouth's Radipole Lake 'natural occurrence' say experts

Experts say an algae bloom across Weymouth's Radipole Lake is a 'natural occurrence' and the water quality levels there are 'normal'.
Local people have been raising concerns about the 'unsightly green skin' over the lake, with calls for it to be removed.
Dorset Council has been getting advice from the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, who say it's not harmful, and is to be expected at this time of year.
But the algae will be removed from next week (Monday 5th August) by a team of specialist water quality and environment contractor.
They'll safely clear the lake, with the work likely to take four to five days.
