Man charged with possessing offensive weapon and threatening elderly woman in Weymouth

A 20 year old man has been charged in connection which a public order incident in Weymouth, in which an elderly woman was threatened.

A man was reported to have been acting anti-socially in Weymouth town centre at around 2.00pm on Wednesday (22nd June).

It's also alleged the same man threatened an older woman with a sharp item in St Thomas Street - with a carving fork seized there.

The incident happened in St Thomas Street in Weymouth in Wednesday afternoon

Kian Hunwick, of no fixed abode, has been charged with possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place, and using threatening, abusive or insulting words to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates today (Friday 24th June).

WITNESS APPEAL ONGOING

Dorset Police are still keen to hear from anyone who might have seen what happened during the incident.

PC Kirsty Keyte said:

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to please get in touch.

“I would also like to make a direct appeal to the alleged victim to please come forward so we can establish exactly what happened.”
