Weymouth Police stop and search finds two men in the country illegally

Two men are in Police custody following a stop and search in Weymouth found them to be in the country illegally .

On Sunday afternoon, officers stopped a car in the Weymouth town centre area to carry out a check on the driving documents.

During the stop check, the occupants of the car were all detained for a search.

A Spokesperson from the force told Greatest Hits Radio Dorset:

"Two male occupants from the vehicle were subsequently arrested after bank cards were found in different names.

"Both males have since been screened at the police station and were found to be in the country illegally, after initially giving false details.

"Enquires are currently ongoing with the UK Border Agency.

"The vehicle has also since been seized as a result of it being driven with no insurance. Both males remain in custody."
