Police in Weymouth have issued two teenagers with a dispersal order, following anti-social behaviour at the town's latest fireworks display.

Officers were on patrol along the Esplanade last night (Monday 12th August) and say 'a number of young persons caused us a few issues'.

They've said they 'had to intervene' a number of times across the night, with Youth Outreach staff from Dorset Council.

Two males were stopped and searched outside The Pavilion, following information that they may have assaulted another young person and had been in possession of a weapon.

The searches didn't find anything, but the pair were asked to leave the area, and be taken home by police.

One of them had to be restrained after hitting a police officer in the chest during that incident.

We're told investigations will continue into their actions.

In a post on social media, Weymouth Police said:

"Whilst it's great to see so many young people out in Weymouth enjoying what the town has to offer and enjoying the fireworks, a number of them appeared intent on causing issues between themselves and were obstructive with police, security staff and outreach workers who were trying to deal with a dynamic incident and made our job very difficult."
