Incident in Weymouth McDonalds treated as hate crime

Police looking to trace suspect following verbal and homophobic abuse

Police in Weymouth are investigating a public order incident, which they're describing as a hate crime, at a Weymouth McDonalds.

A man's reported to become aggressive inside the Jubilee Retail Park branch, at around 2.25am on Thursday last week (24th August).

He was asked to leave and was verbally abusive towards staff members and made threats while refusing to leave, including shouting homophobic abuse.

The suspect is described as:

  • White
  • Aged in his mid 20s
  • Six feet tall
  • Slim build
  • Short dark hair

PC Michael Golder, of Weymouth police, said:

“Dorset Police does not tolerate hate crime and we will do all we can to identify the person responsible.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area of McDonald’s around the relevant time and recognises the man from the description given to please get in touch.”
