Detectives investigating the death of a man in Weymouth have confirmed that a man arrested in connection with the incident will face no further police action.

At around 12.20pm on Monday 11 October 2021 officers received a report from the ambulance service relating to the sudden death of a man aged in his 50s at an address in Portmore Gardens.

An enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death was launched by detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team and a Weymouth man aged in his 20s, who was know to the victim, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and released under investigation.

Following a detailed investigation, as well as forensic post-mortem examination and toxicology tests, he has now been released from the investigation and will face no further police action.

Detectives are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
