Weymouth Ironman - how will it disrupt roads and facilities?
There's a whole raft of closures and alterations in place today (17th September)
Weymouth's annual Ironman 70.3 event returns today (Sunday 17th September), with a fair amount of disruption for local roads and services.
Dorset Council's issued plenty of information for drivers, and residents, about what to expect.
They've sent out letters to 70,000 people to warn them about changes, with the authority's Highways Team providing marshals at 'crucial points along the route' to help people get around.
Much of the road closures are listed on the Dorset Council website. |newtab)

The advice from the Council includes:

- allowing yourself extra travel time and be prepared to wait for access to become available
- speak to a marshal during the event for advice
Access to Household Recycling Centres will be affected throughout the day too.
The Weymouth site on Preston Beach Road will be shut all day, with people urged to use the Portland centre instead.
Dorchester's site at Louds Mill will be open, but access is likely to be disrupted until early afternoon.
In Weymouth, the Pavilion car park and Lodmoor Country Park car park will be closed during the event - but other parking sites aren't affected.
