Weymouth FC chairman, Ian White has issued a statement to fans reassuring them of the clubs plans for the forthcoming 2022/23 season in the National South.

Terras fans have been concerned due to the lack of transfer activity during the summer following their relegation from the National league last season.

The statement, which was released on the clubs official website, read:

"I know some of you are concerned about a lack of perceived activity in the recruiting of players and the departures of current players. David and his team are extremely busy working on new recruits that he feels will work the way he wants to do things and within the structure of the club.

"The squad will evolve over the coming weeks as we head towards the first game of the season on Saturday 6th August."

Weymouth finished 22nd in the National League last season only winning 6 out of their 44 games and losing 28. The clubs relegation was sealed following a 6-1 defeat to Wrexham back in April.

White said the clubs aim is to be back in the National league again and they have learnt their lessons from a difficult season.

He explained:

"We have learnt a lot of lessons from our two season adventure in the National League. Some good and some very hard lessons. It is a place we want to be at again and to that end we will be looking at ways that we can as a club make that happen.

"I won’t lie it won’t be easy and there will need to be changes, but why wouldn’t you want to be playing the teams that now inhabit what has become a truly fantastic league. I do believe that together if we all work in the same direction it can be achieved."

He ended the statement by thanking the fans for their support and patience and looked forward to welcoming everyone back for pre season.

In a separate development it's now been confirmed that Ben Thomson and Andreas Robinson have departed the club.

In a statement on their social media page Weymouth FC said "We thank them both for their fantastic contributions in a Terras shirt as wish them all the very best for the future."
