There's a new man at the helm at Weymouth FC - with David Oldfield joining the club to manage the first team.
He's arrived from National League South side Oxford City and has signed a contract until the end of the season.
An agreement for a potential two year contract has also been put in place following the end of the campaign.
Weymouth FC Chairman, Ian White, has told the club's website:
“Really pleased that David has joined us. I am really looking forward to working with him and together I am certain that we can turn the club’s fortunes around on the pitch. His pedigree speaks for itself and I know he will be up for the challenge.”
David's wasted no time in getting to grips with his new role either, leading the Terras out for training earlier:
His first game in charge will be an away match against Boreham Wood in the National League.
Non Executive Director Mark Palmer said:
“A big welcome to David. This is an exciting time for the club both on and off the pitch, as David brings with him a wealth of experience, knowhow and energy. This is certainly a new and exciting era for the club under David’s tenure-ship and I know he is looking forward to both the short term challenges and helping to fulfil the longer term vision of the club and building something special here at Weymouth.”
WHO IS DAVID OLDFIELD?
He's had a decent footballing career on the pitch, playing for sides including Manchester City, Stoke City, Peterborough United, Leicester City and Luton Town.
As a coach, he's spent time as an Academy Manager at Peterborough, West Brom and MK Dons; as an Assistant Manager at Stevenage, QPR and Burton Albion; and as Manager of Oxford City from 2020.
