Two women from Dorset, taking on a mighty trek across the Sahara, are hosting a family fun day today.
Latoya Allport and Caroline Lampard are supporting Weldmar Hospicecare through the event at Weymouth Rugby Club.
The pair who regularly take part in fundraising challenges are participating in Weldmar's Overseas Challenge, which this year involves a hike in the Sahara Desert.
They are raising money through a family fun day at Weymouth Rubgy Club on Sunday 12th June which involves around 20 stalls, games and live music, including an appearance from local favourite the Leggomen.
The doors of the rugby club open up at 12pm and close at 7pm. Entry is free.
Latoya Allport told Greatest Hits Radio:
"My granddad was ill, a few years ago he died, and Weldmar were there helping my mum towards the end. They're such a phenomenal charity. Everybody in our local area knows somebody who Weldmar has helped. It was just a no-brainer to do it really, especially for Weldmar."
Caroline added:
"I've got a home-help business and I look after elderly people and a few of my clients I've looked after until their end of life.
"It's made me really appreciate what Weldmar do and if I can help raise funds to help them give people a good end of life then I'm all up for helping."
The pair have already hit their fundraising goal but they want to raise as much as they can.
Caroline said:
"We have actually hit our target with another fundraising event we did a little while ago but bviously we'd like to blow the target and get as much as we can because Weldmar deserve it."
