A Weymouth DJ has raised almost £3,000 for Weymouth Veterans Hub thanks to a 36-hour music marathon.

Ben Hadwin took on the challenge at the weekend at the Lugger Inn in Chickerell.

He played music from 9am on Saturday morning until 9pm on Sunday night without a break for sleep.

Ben says he's been inspired to raise money after seeing the lack of support many veterans get when they leave military service.

He told Greatest Hits Radio Dorset he's been particularly moved by one of his colleagues.

"There's not much support there when they leave. So when they get out, a lot of the time they just get left.

"You go from having a gun pointed at you and being shot at, and shooting another person, to suddenly 'there you go, crack on' out in the real world."

Ben added:

"The work that Andy Price has done there is unbelievable. The amount of lives they've probably saved is immense.

"I had a mental health stumble last year, I'm not a veteran, but having that there it helped me wonders."
