A decision on whether Weymouth Carnival can go ahead safely and in line with government restrictions will be made on the 1st of April.
But, organisers say they're confident the event will go ahead.
John Simpson is the Carnival's chairperson. He said:
"As far as we're concerned, Carnival is going ahead. We've got to go all out, rasie al lthe funds we can raise, and put a real good carnival on. The town needs it, the people need it to uplift them a bit.
"We're goverened by whatever COVID decides to throw at us next. We've put a cut-off date of the 1st of April to see which way we go.
"Chances are we're going to have to curtail some of the things we wanted to do but other than that, no, as far as we're concerned, Carnival is definitely going ahead."
The event, which starts of Friday the 13th of August 2021, needs to raise £80,000 so that it can deliver on it's plans.
They've launched a raffle to help raise some of those funds, in partnership with Weyfish.
Planners from the committee appeared outside Weyfish dressed up on Friday morning to promote the raffle and call for more volunteers:
John said:
"We're about halfway, but we would like a lot more sponsors. We would like people to come forward. This is a community carnival we're trying to promote.
"We're trying to involve the whole community, not ust a small part of it, so the more people that come forward to help us volunteer or join the committee, they'd be more than welcome."
