The Weymouth Carnival Committee is fundraising to pay for a new website.

As the carnival hasn't gone ahead for the last two years the team have taken it upon themselves to generate some sort of income.

The CIC group have set up a crowdfunder after pairing up with PXL Tree Media to create a new interactive website.

They are hoping it will open up doors to new funding opportunities for the group, allowing them to put on another Weymouth Carnival.

John Simpson said:

"Lots of good news we've had this week, very positive and excited for the prospect of carnival next year.

"Hopefully we'll have the website up and running by Christmas and the crowdfunding is to enable us to fund it and get it up together.

"The website is there for the public, we'd like them to keep up with the latest carnival information and give them a chance to have their say, if they wish to."

It was also announced on their Facebook page this week that the BID has awarded them with ÂŁ15,000 worth of funding to go towards something they can't quite reveal just yet.

Chairman John Simpson put in a funding application to the Weymouth BiD two weeks ago.

Chief Operations Officer of Weymouth BiD is Claudia Webb.

She emailed the committee on Wednesday (28th October) saying the BiD have agreed to give the Carnival Group ÂŁ15,000 worth of sponsorship for the 2021 Weymouth Carnival.

Claudia said:

"Weymouth BID is happy to support such an important Weymouth event which has been sorely missed over the last couple of years.

"We look forward to seeing the town full and our businesses busy"

John said the committee can't what it's going to be spent on yet:

"It's going to be used for something specific we can't quite tell you about yet just watch this space, if the BiD were here now I'd be saying thank you very much to them for their support of carnival and having faith in the committee as we stand."
