Weymouth car park toilets could soon be solar powered

An application's gone in from the Town Council

A dozen solar panels could be installed on a toilet block at the Swannery car park, off Weymouth's Radipole Park Drive.

Weymouth Town Council's asked Dorset Council for permission to install the panels to two sides of the roof.

They'd provide around 4.26 kW of energy, to supplement what's needed to power the lights and hot water for the building.

We're told the panels, if approved, would be black and made from materials that wouldn't produce any glare.

That's important due to the car park running alongside the RSPB Swannery nature reserve, so wildlife wouldn't be disturbed by the solar panels.
