Woman bitten by dog in Weymouth taken to hospital
Dorset Police are urging the dog owner to do the right thing and come forward
A woman needed hospital treatment after being bitten by a dog in Weymouth.
Dorset Police say it happened at around 11.30pm on Friday 2 July.
The victim was walking on Chickerell Road with friends when they approached Boot Hill traffic lights under the arch and heard a dog bark from the other side of the road.
The dog, which was possibly a dark-coloured Alsatian type, was wearing a rope-style lead, but became loose and ran straight toward the victim.
The victim - a local woman aged in her 30s - was bitten and sustained a puncture wound that was treated at hospital. She also sustained bruised ribs.
Description of dog owner
The owner of the dog is described as a white woman, aged in her late 30s, approximately five feet tall and of medium build and a scruffy appearance with possibly bleached hair with dark roots.
Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said:
"The victim was left really shaken up by this incident.
"I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or recognises the dog owner from the description given to please get in touch.
"I would also urge the dog owner to do the right thing and come forward so we can take your account of what happened."
