Weymouth has beaten Bournemouth when it comes to the best coastal towns for seaside properties.

Showerstoyou.co.uk scored seaside property spots on a points-based system to find the best town to move to.

Weymouth came in second overall in the rankings whereas Bournemouth came 15th after places like Margate, Blackpool and Hastings.

The rankings cite that Weymouth is among the best for air quality coming in at 16 degrees on the air quality index (AQI), contributing 91 points to their total score. However, the average property price of £277,580 is among the factors pipping the town from first place, earning a measly 39 points in this department.

Weymouth gets over 1,800 hours of sunshine each year, putting it again among some of the best summer retreats.

Bournemouth however does have blue flag beaches in it's favour, over Weymouth's one and experiences higher average temperatures of 14.8°C, over Weymouth's 13.9°C.

Margate, however, took the title of 1st place with just 107 rainy days each year. They also offer three blue flag certified beaches.
