Weymouth's wheelchair-users are able to access much more of the beach this year.

The Town Council's added a special kind of matting that's easy to cross using wheels.

Previously it's made it possible to get onto the beach, but this year it extends much closer to the sea.

A Weymouth Town Council Spokesperson said:

“We put access matting down every year in order to make our beautiful beach more accessible for wheelchair and mobility scooter users.

"This year we are trialling having the matting a little closer, but still a safe distance to the sea so that more people can enjoy being on the beach.

"The larger section of matting can be found opposite the beach office, with two other smaller sections located opposite Marks & Spencer and in the dog area.”
