A walker's been airlifted to hospital after suffering a fall on the coast path at Durdle Door.

Crews from Wyke and Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team were dispatched yesterday afternoon.

The woman, who'd suffered a leg injury, was carried by stretcher to the coastguard helicopter and flown to Dorset County Hospital.

A spokesperson for Wyke Coastguard CRT said:

"Both teams were tasked just before 3pm to a female with a lower leg injury sustained after a slip on the SW coastpath close to Middle Bottom. First team members on scene stabilised the injury and awaited the arrival of more manpower for what looked like a long stretcher carry.

"The Coastguard helicopter, training nearby, offered assistance which was gratefully accepted. The casualty was packaged and stretchered a much shorter distance to the awaiting aircraft."
