Victim of Weymouth fight found on boat in town's harbour

He was hit over the head with a glass bottle

On Sunday 19th September at 8:24pm, Dorset Police were called to Westham Road in Weymouth to deal with a fight that saw a man hit over the head with a glass bottle.

Wyke Coastguard assisted the Force and the South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust.

The victim – a local man aged in his 50s – was later located on a boat in Weymouth Marina.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries on his head that are not life-threatening or life-changing.

The Coastguard team provided water rescue cover to allow the male to be recovered safely from a vessel.

A 49-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
