Vandals have caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to a community project in Poundbury.

A polytunnel used to grow plants and crops has been slashed with a knife.

It will cost ÂŁ600 to repair.

Police also found empty bottles of alcohol and drugs paraphernalia.

A spokesperson for Dorchester Police said:

"This is a community run project with an aim to get together to explore ways of living more sustainably and building a community, through sharing growing space, tools, knowledge, ideas and work, and harvesting produce together.

"They welcome and encourage people to come and enjoy the community space (when we come out of lockdown).

"This took a lot of hard work from volunteers within the community to set it up. We think it is really sad that someone has caused such mindless and unnecessary damage."
