Cattle sheds in Dorchester have been targeted by vandals, three times in a week.

Police are now stepping up patrols of Fairfield Car Park.

They're also asking the council to consider locking the car park overnight.

Damage was first discovered on Wednesday 5 January by officers on foot patrol.

Officers liaised with the local authority to make them aware of the damage and ensure the area was made safe.

A spokesperson for Dorchester Police said:

"Enquiries into the incident have been ongoing, and officers have been carrying out regular patrols in the area.

"Whilst on patrol in the vicinity, they were alerted to further damage at the location on Tuesday 11 January and a further report of damage was received on Thursday 13 January and further damage was discovered by officers on patrol on Saturday 15 January 2022.

"Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries and the regular patrols will remain in place. They have also contacted the local authority with a view to locking the car park overnight, which has helped address previous issues at the location."

Mike Westwood, Service Manager for Parking Services at Dorset Council, said:

“We are working closely with the Police to try and make the area more secure, including looking at whether it would be appropriate to start locking it up at night again. In the meantime, if anyone has any information regarding these incidents then please contact Dorset Police as soon as possible.”
