An 'unexploded device' discovered in Abbotsbury this morning (Monday 25th July) has now been safely removed.

Dorset Police tell us the incident in Market Street was reported to them at 9.04am .

A 100 metre cordon was set up in the area for the safety of the public.

That also meant the B3157 West Street had to be closed between the Abbotsbury Hill and Rodden Row junctions.

An EOD (Explosive and Ordnance Disposal) team was called out and safely removed the device.

The road closure was lifted at 2.10pm.
