Two men sentenced for stealing wood from Wimborne store

£4,000 worth of supplies was taken from Jewsons in the town

Two men have been sentenced for stealing a large quantity of wood from a store in Wimborne.

33 year old Scott Matthew Cochrane, from Poole has been given a two year prison sentence, while Paul Alexander Street, who's 33 and also from Poole, has been given a two year sentence, suspended for 18 months.

They were both were found guilty of theft and going equipped to steal.

What happened?

At around 8.00pm on Sunday 30 January 2022, Dorset Police received a report of a tipper truck parked outside the gate of Jewson building material suppliers on Wimborne Road West and suspicious noises coming from the premises after closure.

Officers stopped the vehicle outside the Spar convenience store on Wimborne Road in Colehill after noticing it was full of timber, worth around £4,000.

Cochrane and Street were arrested and taken into custody, while the vehicle was seized by officers and the timber returned.

“We will do everything we can to ensure that these offences are thoroughly investigated and that those who are responsible are identified and are held to account.
