Tributes paid to leading Weymouth Lifeboat Station volunteer
Local fisherman Trevor Brooker has died.
Tributes are being paid to a local fisherman and leading volunteer for Weymouth Lifeboat Station who's died.
Deputy Second Coxswain Trevor Brooker passed away suddenly on Sunday 13 September.
He was 56.
Weymouth RNLI say everyone is devastated at "the loss of our friend."
They say "Trevor was a much loved and respected part of our family at the station and he will be greatly missed by everyone.
"As a fisherman his seamanship and extensive knowledge of local waters proved invaluable on many a shout.
"He was a quite man whose calming influence under the most challenging of conditions at sea could always be relied on."
Trevor was a professional local fisherman who owned and skippered a Weymouth fishing trawler.
He became a volunteer crew member at Weymouth RNLI lifeboat station in 2002 and quickly became a volunteer Deputy Coxswain in 2003, a post that he continued to hold.
Weymouth lifeboat Coxswain Andy Sargent said:
"Trevor had been connected to the harbour since school days. He, as did several other's of similar age, grew up around fishing in Weymouth.
"Joining the lifeboat in 2002, he was quickly promoted to Deputy Second Coxswain. Trevor's knowledge, experience and leadership, along with his quiet demeanour was a great asset to the crew at Weymouth.
"He will be sorely missed by all at the lifeboat station and our sincere condolences are extended to all Trevor's family and friends. "
