A teenage motorcross rider from Dorset has died following a fall during a race over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Jude Morris, 17, was competing in the British Motorcross Championships in Scotland when he was injured in the crash.

No other riders were involved in the incident and medics were on the scene as soon as possible but Jude died from his injuries.

Race Director and Chairman of the Auto Cycle Union Motocross Committee, Steve McCauley said: “An incredibly sad day for everyone. Jude was always smiling and lived for competing in Motocross.

"An extremely talented young lad, he was one of the most dedicated and hard-working young riders I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

"At this very sad time our thoughts are with Jude’s parents Mark and Lucy and their family”.

Jude, from Corfe Castle, had been described as a future adult British champion.
