Dorset County Hospital’s two towers have been lit up in purple and white to mark a campaign against gender-based violence.

It is part of a national initiative lasting 16 days.

Cllr Molly Rennie, chair of the Dorset Domestic Abuse Forum, has welcome the hospital’s involvement:

“It is a very visible display of their work done supporting the 16 Days of Action against Gender-based Violence. The NHS and many partners work continually to bring about change, support families to rebuild their lives and bring awareness of this dreadful crime.

"As chair of the Domestic Abuse Forum we welcome the membership of the NHS and the staff who attend. Working together in partnership with many organisations we can bring about change. We can spread the word wider, do all we can to help everyone understand it is unacceptable to hurt anyone in anyway – but there is help for everyone here in our community.”

Our hospital has been given cash towards research and equipment

Head of Safeguarding at Dorset County Hospital Sarah Cake said:

“Over the past four years we have been proud of promote 16 Days of Action against Gender-based Violence in conjunction with YOU First.

"This year we have been unable to participate in our usual way due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions however, we are very pleased to be able to show our solidarity by lighting our towers purple and white.

"We hope this raises awareness of the campaign and highlights our continued support for victims of domestic abuse.”
