A top Dorset musician is putting on a fundraising concert for Ukraine.

Boogie Woogie pianist Ben Waters has played with musicians including Ronnie Wood, Dave Gilmore and Jools Holland.

His band will take to the stage alongside a host of other local bands at Weymouth Pavilion Ocean Room this Friday night (25 March).

Ben told Greatest Hits Radio Dorset why he wanted to do it:

"I was watching the TV just sat there one night, and there's a young family, and I thought, what if that was my own family, just being thrown out of their house and running for their lives, and they haven't done anything wrong at all. Just not doing anything feels awful."

So Ben has enlisted the help of the local music community in Dorset.

He said:

"Musicians have always traditionally helped in situations like this. I remember other fundraising concerts at Weymouth Pavilion on different occasions. It's an uplifting experience to help other people and see old friends, and to just get together and talk about it."

"At the end of the night we're going to have a jam and have lots of musicians up on the stage showing their support."

Phil and Louise Say have given the Weymouth Pavilion Ocean Room free of charge, with Dan Wilson also providing security for free.

All the profits will go to Unicef with tickets available from Ben Waters' website.
