Three people arrested in connection with serious assault in Bournemouth

Detectives have made three arrests as they investigate a reported serious assault in Bournemouth.

At around 1.40am on Saturday 3rd September 2022, officers in the Lower Gardens were alerted to a report of a man who was in need of medical treatment.

It was reported that a group of three males had approached the victim and one of the males had allegedly punched him, causing him to fall to the ground.

The victim, a man aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a suspected fractured skull and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Following enquiries by detectives, three Bournemouth men – aged 18, 20 and 22 – were arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm and they have been released on police bail.

A 19-year-old man from Bournemouth was also arrested in connection with the incident but he was released without charge.

Detective Sergeant Jon Sainsbury, of Bournemouth CID, said:

“We are continuing to investigate this incident and I would appeal to any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area around the time of this incident to please check any dashcam footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.”
