UPDATED: Thousands of homes in Weymouth and Dorchester hit by huge power cut

Thousands of homes in Weymouth and Dorchester were affected by a power cut yesterday afternoon. (30 March)

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks say it was due to a fault on the main network.

Engineers were dispatched to get power back on as soon as possible.

They say 3,325 postcodes are affected.

The outage affected traffic lights in Weymouth town cetre.

It also took down computers at Weymouth Pavilion, where COVID-19 vaccinations were taking place.

Power was eventually restored at 5.48pm.
