Cast and crew for Weymouth Pavilion's beloved pantomimes are returning to the stage.

They had to cancel showings last year when Dorset went up a COVID tier, meaning theatres would no longer be able to put on shows.

But, to make sure no one misses out, Made to Measure Productions are back with Rapunzel from Thursday to Sunday this week.

That includes shows for all the family, and the slightly naughtier adult shows.

Lee Redwood plays the Dame. He's also the creative director of Made to Measure Productions. He said:

"Pantomime is one of the only things an entire family, generations and generations can do together.

"There's something in a pantomime for every single person from the tiny little ones, up to great gran and grandad.

"Particularly at the moment, we've just been allowed to hug eachother again and people can all of a sudden see those relatives that a lot of people haven't seen for over a year.

"For something that everyone can do together, is really important, I think."

Crew watched with baited breath in December during a matinee viewing as the Prime Minister announced Dorset would be climbing a tier, bringing their shows to a halt.

Lee says after 6 months, they can't wait to get back on the stage:

"We were all devastated. When you put that much effort into a production like that, and we got told at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon that we couldn't do anything past that show - we were all in tears.

"I think the most emotional part is going to be that first note of the overture of the first night, where the timpani goes and the cymbal crash and everything starts."
