Temporary water treatment works needed for Lytchett Minster
Wessex Water say they need to make repairs on site
A temporary emergency water treatment facility is having to be set up between Upton and Lytchett Minster.
It's so Wessex Water can carry out repairs to a leaking ditch.
It is believed the lining material of the ditch has perished, allowing water underneath it and causing the liner material to bubble to the surface.
The water company say that to carry out repairs they will need to set up a temporary water recycling treatment unit in an adjoining field to the Lytchett Minster treatment plant off Slough Lane.
Flows will then be diverted to the temporary treatment unit, then drain down the ditch, for repairs to be carried out before re-instating the ditch.
A temporary compound, protected by a 1.8metre security fence, will be set up alongside the existing treatment centre to include devices to divide incoming crude sewage into four clarifying tanks and then to treat it.
Once the repairs have been made Wessex Water say the temporary treatment facility will be removed and the field restored for farming use.
