Teenager suffers spinal injuries jumping off Lulworth rocks

A teenage boy's been airlifted to hospital with spinal injuries, following an incident near Lulworth Cove.

The coastguard, RNLI, paramedics and an air ambulance were called to Man O'War beach at around 3.15pm on Monday (12th August).

It's reported the victim was hurt jumping off rocks into the water.

Local lifeboat teams helped to get paramedics to the scene and transferred the patient to an air ambulance.

In a social media post, Weymouth Lifeboat said:

"Weymouth RNLI’s inshore and all-weather lifeboats launched (Monday 12 August) to reports of a male casualty near Lulworth Cove.

"The lifeboats launched just after 3.15pm following reports a young male had jumped off rocks into the water at Man O’War beach and suffered a suspected spinal injury.

"The inshore lifeboat was first on scene, and transferred a Coastguard helicopter paramedic to the beach.

"The Air Ambulance also attended, and took over care of the casualty. The lifeboats were stood down and returned to station."
