Teenager robbed in Sturminster Newton
The 15 year old victim was also assaulted
A teenage boy has been assaulted and robbed at a bus stop in Sturminster Newton.
The 15 year old victim was first approached by a male teenager on Station Road, opposite the Co-Op, between 10 and 10.15pm on Thursday night (21st April).
He was assaulted and two people intervened, taking the boy to a nearby park.
A short time later, the victim went back to the bus stop and was approached by a group of people.
One of the group grabbed his bag and stole it, before the victim ran away.
Dorset Police officers found the boy and he was taken to hospital as a precaution, but he didn't suffer any serious injuries.
DS Simon Austin, of Weymouth CID, said:
“An investigation is underway into both incidents and enquiries are ongoing to establish whether they are linked.
“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity at the bus stop around the relevant time to please get in touch.
“I am particularly keen to speak to the two members of the public who assisted the victim. They are reported to have been walking a German Shepherd dog.
“I would also like to ask anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam or CCTV systems to please get in touch.
“Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team can be approached by anyone with information or concerns.”
