Teenager suffers head injuries in Dorchester assault and robbery
The victim was pushed into the river, and had a backpack stolen
A teenage boy's suffered serious head injuries after being attacked and pushed into a river by two youths in Dorchester.
Dorset Police say the victim also had his backpack stolen during the assault happened between 6.30 and 7.00pm last Wednesday evening (31st July).
The incident's alleged to have started outside the Co-Op in Trinity Street and ended at Frome Terrace.
A man who tried to intervene was also assaulted, suffering minor injuries.
The young victim and the alleged offenders are believed to be known to each other.
A teenage boy from Weymouth has been arrested on suspicion of inflicting GBH, assault and robbery.
He's since been released on bail while investigations continue.
Detective Constable Mia-Isabella Bowditch, of Dorset County CID, said:
“This was a nasty incident and we are conducting a number of enquiries to ascertain the full circumstances of how it occurred.
“I am keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information that could assist our investigation, particularly the man who attempted to intervene outside the Co-Op.
“I would also urge any motorists who were travelling in the areas of Trinity Street and Frome Terrace on the evening of Wednesday 31st July to please check their dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
