A teenage girl has been seriously injured after being hit by a van in Weymouth.

Police have just released details about the collision that happened between 11.15am and 11.45am on Monday 8 May in William Street at the junction with the B3155.

The pedestrian – a 15-year-old girl – sustained a serious injury to her knee.

It is reported that the driver of the van failed to stop at the scene.

The van is described as yellow with black writing on it.

Police Constable Alison Baker, of Weymouth police, said: “Our enquiries are continuing and I would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“If you were driving the yellow van, or have information about who that may be, please do the right thing and contact Dorset Police.”
