A teenager has suffered a broken nose after being hit in the face by the wing mirror of a lorry in Wimborne.

Dorset Police say it happened at around 3.30pm on Tuesday 6 December.

A teenage boy was standing at the pedestrian crossing on Stone Lane, near to the junction with Knobcrook Road, when he was struck in the face by the wing mirror of a passing lorry.

The teenager sustained a broken nose as a result of the incident. It was reported that the vehicle involved – described as a white, rigid-body flatbed lorry – did not stop at the scene.

Police Constable Matt Shewbridge, of Dorset Police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident and I would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area to check any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything that might help our investigation.

“Finally, I understand several members of the public came to the aid of the injured boy following the collision. I would like to speak to these people as they may have information that will assist us.”
