In line with government restrictions, The Tank Museum is hoping to welcome visitors to the attraction for the first time this year, on Monday 17 May.

The Prime Minister is expected to make an announcement on Monday 10 May to confirm that Museums can re-open on that date.

Following that, tickets will be available to book on the Museum's website from 11th May.

To maintain the safety of the visitors and staff, The Tank Museum will continue to confirm with the latest Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines.

Museum spokesman Nik Wyness said:

"This means that we currently expect to be operating with the same protocols in place as before we closed. These will include observing the rule of six, wearing face coverings and asking our visitors to support social distancing."

Visitors on the 17 May will be among the first to explore The Tank Museum's newly completed World War Two: War Stories exhibition.

Nik said:

"Staff have worked throughout the pandemic to create the new exhibition, which focuses on the experiences of British Royal Armoured Corps servicemen from 1939 to 1945."

The exhibition covers some of the less well-known campaigns of World War Two, such as Arras, Greece, Dieppe, North Africa, the Great Swan, Burma, Walcheren, the Gothic Line, the Rhine crossings and the later fighting inside Germany.

The opening of the exhibition will be going live on the Musuem's Youtube Channel on May 13th.
