Three fire engines were called out this morning to deal with a flat fire in Weymouth.

The blaze broke out in a property in Radipole Lane, just before 7.30am.

The fire was in the living room of a second floor flat.

It's thought it was started by a tea-light not being put out overnight.

A spokesman for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said:

"Crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one main line and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire in the living room of the second floor flat. A reminder that alarms really do save lives!!!"

" We believe the fire started by tea-lights not being extinguished overnight.

"Can we take this opportunity to remind people that a high proportion of fires in the UK are started by inappropriate use of candles. If you are going to use candles please remember, extinguish after use, place tea-lights in a non-combustible dish

"Thankfully nobody was hurt or injured on this occasion."
