The West Bay Coastguard Rescue Team were alerted on Friday lunchtime (6 Nov) to reports of a swimmer in difficulty off West Bay.
A member of the public had phoned 999 after a 62 year old female swimmer was seen shouting for help around 40 yards from the end of East Pier.
West Bay Coastguard, the Lyme Regis RNLI Lifeboat, the Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance all went to the scene.
FISHERMEN TO THE RESCUE
But whilst the emergency services were on their way, a nearby fishing boat plucked the stranded swimmer from the water and took her into West Bay harbour.
West Bay Coastguard went onto the fishing boat and checked the swimmer over, she was already being cared for by a first aider, the fishermen and harbour team.
The woman was then taken into the care of South Western Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance team.
