Swan making "remarkable" recovery after crashing through glass skylight
The bird was left surrounded by broken glass and suspended in netting
A swan has crashed through a glass skylight after landing on the roof of a cosmetics warehouse in Dorset.
The bird was left surrounded by broken glass and suspended in netting about 25ft above the top floor of the Lush Cosmetics building in Poole.
Ringwood-based charity Wildlife Rescue said one their trained volunteers attended the scene and found the swan had climbed out of the netting onto a narrow steel girder.
Workers at the warehouse cleared the area below, shortly before the swan "suddenly descended and crashed onto the floor".
The bird was transported to the charity's hospital to be assessed and examined for injuries.
Staff said he had suffered bruising to most parts of his body and a single cut underneath the top of a wing which needed stitching.
A spokesperson said: "He is continuing with medication and making a remarkable recovery from such a traumatic episode."
