Storm Herminia: West Bay flood barriers to deploy
Three weather warnings have been issued today and tomorrow
Dorset Council has confirmed it will deploy flood barriers at West Bay at 2pm (Sunday 26th January), as Storm Herminia hits southern Britain.
The Environment Agency has warned about large waves and coastal overtopping from Sunday evening into Monday morning, officials said in a post on social media.
Yellow weather warnings have been issued for Dorset, by the Met Office.
An alert for rain came into force at 8am and lasts until 6am tomorrow.
One wind warning is in force until 1pm, with a second issued for 10pm to 7am.
Forecasters said very strong winds would be "very brief" in each area they reach, with gusts of 55-65mph, and a very small chance of localised gusts up to 80mph.
The Met Office added: "Confidence remains very low with regards to the track of this development, if it occurs.
"The strongest winds will probably only affect a narrow swathe somewhere within the broader warning area."
