Steep rise in Covid-19 cases in Dorset

There has been a steep rise in Covid cases in Dorset.

According to the latest data published for the 4 January, there have been 744 cases in the Dorset Council area over the last 7 days.

That's up from 455 cases the week before.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole: 389.5 (compared to 218.8 in last update on 29 December)

Dorset 196.6 (compared to 120.2 in last update on 29 December)

Confirmed cases in last 7 days

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole: 1,540 (compared to 865 in last update on 29 December)

Dorset: 744 (compared to 455 in last update on 29 December)

We are also seeing a rise in hospital admissions.

Current COVID-19 patients in hospital beds in Dorset: 135 (compared to 134 in last update on 29 December)

Dorset County Hospital has now banned visitors to patients on wards in all but exceptional circumstances.
