Dorset County Hospital are testing out their new multi-storey car park today. 1 September

Only hospital staff are able to use it for the time being, until the barrier and payment system is up and running.

The hospital say in the meantime, patients and visitors should be able to park much closer to the main entrance.

In a statement on their Facebook Page, Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said:

"Once the barriers and new payment machines are operational, the MSCP will open to patients and visitors too.

"In the meantime, the surface parking around the hospital site next to the North, South and East Wings will be designated for patients and visitors only so public users are able to park much more easily close to the main entrances.

"The car park at Trust HQ in Bridport Road will continue to be shared by staff and the public. The Children’s Centre car park in Damers Road is for users of the Children’s Centre only.

"Blue Badge holders will be able to park in the new dedicated disabled parking area in front of North Wing for free – please follow the signs as you enter the site.

"Members of our Transport Team will be stationed at the main entrances to explain where staff and public users can park. There will also be signs in place to advise people."

The existing pay and display machines remain in operation with the usual parking charges in place.
