Six people have been rescued and two led to safety after a fire at a hotel in Dorset.

9 fire engines were called to the premises in St Michael's Road in Bournemouth yesterday morning.

The building was evacuated and the fire was found on the top floor of the 4 storey building.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said:

"Crews rescued six people, led two others to safety and used two sets of breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to bring the fire under control by 4.38am.

"A fire investigation has been carried out and the cause involves the ignition of a duvet, but due to the nature of the fire, it can’t be confirmed if this was accidental or deliberate."
