Drivers in Poole face seven weeks of disruption in the New Year.

Wessex Water are carrying out work to fix part of a collapsed sewer on Ringwood Road, close to the junction with Mannings Heath Road and Herbert Avenue.

They're due to start work on Monday 6th January 2025.

Ringwood Road will be shut in both directions throughout the work, with a diversion in place, using Ringwood Road and the A3049 (Dorset Way).

Mannings Heath Road, Herbert Avenue and Ringwood Road to the north of the double roundabout will remain open throughout the work.

Some local bus routes will also be affected while contractors are on site.

A temporary pipe was installed there by Wessex Water last month, to keep the sewer network working as normal and help avoid worsening traffic in the area while other roadworks were being carried out nearby.

A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “Closing roads is always a last resort and, in this case, it is due to the complex nature of the repair because of the depth of the collapsed sewer, more than six metres down.

“We’ve worked closely with BCP Council to agree the dates of the project and ensure that the local community is made aware of the associated traffic management measures.

“We are writing to local customers and businesses and our team are already working to ensure access to and from their properties can be maintained during this essential work. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.’’
