A fire in a three storey house in Poole has left parts of it with severe damage.

Crews from Poole, Springbourne and Redhill Park, with support from Christchurch, Hamworthy and Wimborne, were called to Crichel Mount Road at around 11.25am on Tuesday (18th April).

They found a fire on the third floor, which has also spread to the roof space.

An aerial ladder platform from Westbourne and a support appliance from Dorchester were also sent to the scene.

Firefighters spent four hours tackling the blaze, cutting away sections of the roof to prevent further spread, dealing with any hotspots and helping to salvage items from inside.

We're told the fire started accidentally due to an electrical fault.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue say the incident's also highlighted the need for on-call firefighters for the service.

They've said three of the stations which attended are crewed by on-call staff, with vacancies at a number of local stations.
