Seven ponies have been seized from a field in West Dorset.

The county's rural crime police unit say it was to prevent unnecessary suffering.

Officers, along with the RSPCA and the World Horse Welfare Charity, visited the site yesterday morning (19th November).

A vet carried out an assessment and the ponies were taken away to receive care and treatment.

Police say an investigation is ongoing.
