Large scale searches are being carried out to trace a man who's been missing from Wareham since Thursday (26th January).

54 year old Steven Clarke was last seen outside the Garden Gate Tea Room in North Street at 10.30am that day.

CCTV spotted him before that, at 9.10am, at the One Stop in the town.

He was reported missing to Dorset Police at around 1.20pm on Saturday (28th January).

Further sightings have been passed on since, but they haven't been confirmed as yet.

Steven's described as:

  • Five feet ten inches tall
  • Slim build
  • Brown, unkempt hair
  • Often uses a gold-coloured walking stick

Police also say they have located the jacket he was seen wearing in the CCTV picture from Wareham One Stop, but officers think he could still be in the other clothing he's seen in.

Chief Inspector Greg Tansill, of Dorset Police, said:

“We have been carrying out a large number of searches and enquiries overnight and today in a bid to locate Steven, but sadly these have so far not been successful. I am grateful to colleagues at Dorset Search and Rescue Service (DorSAR) and NPAS for their ongoing help.

“We are becoming very worried for Steven and I would urge anyone who has seen him, knows of his whereabouts or has seen a man matching the description given to please get in touch.

“Finally, if Steven sees this appeal, I urge him to please contact us as we just want to know you are OK.”

If you can help with any information, you're asked to called Dorset Police on 101, quoting reference number 28:263.
