As Dorset mourns the passing away of Queen Elizabeth, a school in Dorset has been remembering the time they received a visit by Her Majesty.

Queen Elizabeth School in Wimborne have shared photos from the Queen's visit in 1998 as they pay tribute following her death on Thursday.

Her Majesty's trip marked 500 years of free education in Wimborne as she, along with her husband, Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, signed a photo of themselves.

Headteacher Katie Boyes said:

"It is with great sadness that we join together with the nation and the world in mourning the death of Her late Majesty The Queen, someone who is deeply rooted in the history of our school.

"As a school we have taken time to remember and reflect. King Charles and the Royal Family are in all of our thoughts and prayers."
